VIDEO: Prop 17 is a lemon

Share

Dear [[First_Name]],

Once again, special interests are using our state initiative process to threaten our consumer rights and serve their own ends. This June, Californians will vote on Proposition 17, which has been written and sponsored by auto insurance companies who want to raise our rates.

Prop 17 is a dangerous precedent that will allow auto insurers to hike your insurance rates. Under this proposal, they could raise your rates if you haven't had coverage in the last five years, if your coverage lapses for 90 days, or if you miss even one payment.

As San Francisco City Attorney, I've consistently stood up to protect consumers against powerful interests. That's why I'm fighting back now. We cannot allow Prop 17 to pass. Today I released a television commercial that exposes Prop 17 for what it really is -- a deceptive scheme by one private auto insurance company. In short, "It's a Lemon!"

Join me in fighting back by voting "NO" on Prop 17. Show this commercial to your friends and family to make sure that they vote against this measure as well. Together, we can make sure that consumers are protected against the excesses of auto insurance companies here in California.
